This remodel was for a family with two young daughters. The original kitchen had a limited connection to the rear yard of the clients’ home, and three disconnected sitting rooms. The clients wanted their new kitchen layout and living area to unify the family. The original first floor shed adjacent to the kitchen included a small mudroom with a tight laundry area and an awkward full bath, which were removed to achieve this. Relocating the laundry appliances to the third floor and removing the bathroom allowed for maximum natural light at the rear. A powder room was installed in an existing closet next to the basement stairwell as well.
