2020 Regional CotY Award Winner, Universal Design - Kitchen
Phase two of a whole house renovation involved reconfiguring the kitchen to provide universal design function so our clients could age in place. Removing a load bearing wall between the kitchen and an underutilized nursury made room for this wheel chair accessible design. The kitchen incorporates elements and functions of a commercial kitchen along with the comforts of a residential kitchen in a traditional setting. Universal Design elements, including a 3-foot wide pantry door, roll-up eating counter, non-slip tile floor, touch faucets, a slat wall hanging system, adjustable open shelving and easy acess cabinets, help meet current and future accessibility needs.
