The clients fell in love with the charm and history of their 100-year-old home. Unfortunately, as with many older homes, the rooms were too small and the house too compartmentalized. They wanted to add a master bathroom, a more open entertaining space with views of the water, and a closet in the entry. The existing house also needed upgrades to the heating system and the exterior envelope because of its proximity to the coast. A two-story addition gave them the space while maintaining the nostalgic feel of the original design.
