Sectioned, small and dark are three words that describe this home’s downstairs spaces, which were in need of a major overhaull. The homeowners love to entertain, but struggled to do this with their two small living rooms and removed kitchen. Redesigning the spaces to function in a more compatible way allowed the clients to entertain bigger groups with ease. The kitchen and existing family room flipped places, while the wall that separated the existing family room and living room was completely removed. The existing kitchen became a formal dining room, with a butler’s zone and walk-in pantry.
