This 1657-square-foot home’s former kitchen was claustrophobic, had limited counterspace and storage. This client dreamed of updating her dark 1980s kitchen and wanted some pizazz. Removing a half wall that divided the livingroom and kitchen, and transforming the narrow split-level area into a flat 42-inch wide workspace opened the space. New shaker cabinetry with an eight-foot tall built-in pantry, pull out shelves, a 10-foot sideboard, and island with drawers and doors on all three sides gives this homeowner plenty of storage and a mixer lift. The orange accent color, stainless steel appliances and an Italian rangehood all command attention.
