This young family did not love the separation between the old kitchen and family room. The new design eliminated the load bearing wall. The feature wall was created by eliminating a one sided-window and enlarging the west wall of the kitchen to house a large scale gas stove, a custom wood hood, and a granite-covered backsplash that spans the entire feature wall. A big island was placed in the center of kitchen, and includes a farm-sink, dishwasher, storage and lots of room for seating. A closet in the family room was converted into a wet bar area with a custom-designed tile backsplash as well.
